Multiple parts 

  • Plant-based iron and often consumed to treat or prevent iron deficiency anemia

  • Loaded with a variety of unique compounds such as gallic acid, and ferulic acid, and have strong anti-inflammatory properties 

  • Has a concentration of glycoalkaloids so if consumed in large doses it can have adverse digestive and neurological symptoms, but when ripe it is better to be consumed 

  • Often consumed for pregnant and breastfeeding women to consume raw turkey berries to improve iron status and promote lactation
