Root 

  • Root improves digestion, liver function, controls nausea, vomiting, and coughing, influenza, and circulatory problems

  • Externally the root is used for spasmodic pain, rheumatism, and menstrual cramps and sprains 

  • Rhizomes are applied against a wide range of ailments such as nausea, diarrhoea, dysentery, gastrointestinal problems, fever, cough, colds, congestion, cramps, and dropsy

  • Juice is used against migraines, and colic, and relieves menstrual cramps 

  • Crushed can be applied externally against headache, toothache, rheumatism, intestinal problems, itches, and boils 

  • Antidote against snake poison in Indonesia, fish and crab poison 

  • Reduces cholesterol, lower blood pressure
